The shop is powered by Shopify. Shopify hosts the store and processes orders, payments, customer accounts and forms on our behalf as a processor. In some cases Shopify also acts as an independent controller, as described in Shopify’s own notices. We do not sell your personal data.
What we collect
Depending on how you use the shop, we may collect:
- Contact and delivery details you give us: name, email, billing and shipping address, phone number if you provide one.
- Order and payment details: what you buy, amounts, payment confirmation. Card numbers are handled by Shopify and the payment provider, not stored by us as full card data.
- Messages you send us, including emails to info@chrisobliss.com.
- Account details if you create one: email, password (stored by Shopify), preferences.
- Technical data from your visit: IP address, device and browser information, pages viewed, and similar usage data.
- Cookies and similar technologies, as described below.
We receive this information from you, from your device when you use the site, and from service providers who process it for us — above all Shopify, and the carriers and payment services needed to complete an order.
Why we use it
- To take and fulfil your order, ship the Presence Anchor, handle returns and answer you — this is needed to perform the contract.
- To keep accounts, invoices and records we must keep under Belgian and EU law.
- To keep the shop secure and to prevent fraud.
- To send order emails and, if you ask or the law allows, occasional news about ChrisObliss. You can unsubscribe from promotional mail at any time. We still send mail that belongs to your order.
- To understand how the shop is used so we can keep it working, with cookies where required and, for non-essential cookies, after you choose in the cookie banner.
Where GDPR requires a legal basis, we rely on: performance of a contract, our legal duties, our legitimate interests in running a small honest shop (balanced against your rights), and consent where we ask for it, including for non-essential cookies.
Shopify, cookies and others who help us
Shopify Inc. and its affiliates host this store. Information you submit is sent to Shopify so the shop can function. Shopify may store and process data outside the EEA, including in Canada (adequacy) and the United States, using Standard Contractual Clauses or another recognised transfer tool where required.
We also use carriers to deliver parcels, and payment providers to take payment. They receive only what they need to do that job.
The site uses cookies and similar tools. Some are necessary for checkout, a cart and security. Others help us understand traffic or remember a preference. In the EU, non-essential cookies wait on your choice. You can change that later through the cookie banner or your browser settings.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with third parties so they can market to you as if it were a product we sold.

How long we keep it
Order and invoice data is kept for as long as Belgian accounting and tax rules require, typically seven to ten years. Customer-service mail is kept as long as needed to finish the conversation and any related legal period. If you have an account, we keep it until you ask us to close it, and then for any remaining legal duty. Cookie data follows the life of the cookie or your deletion of it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask us to:
- access the personal data we hold about you,
- correct it,
- delete it, where the law allows,
- restrict or object to certain processing,
- receive a copy in a portable form,
- withdraw consent where we relied on consent. Withdrawal does not undo processing that was lawful before.
Write to info@chrisobliss.com. We may need to confirm it is you. We will answer within the time the law sets.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In Belgium that is the Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit), Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be. If you live in another EU country, you may go to your local authority. A list is on the European Data Protection Board site.
We will not treat you worse for exercising these rights.
Children
This shop is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of majority where you live.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that matters, we will update this page. The date at the top of the checkout version, where shown, is the latest revision.
